Periodox product is a locally applied, subgingival antibiotic gel. It fills up infected pockets between teeth and gum. Periodox provides the flexibility to treat as many sides as needed as adjunct to scaling and root surface debridement (RSD). The active ingredient of Periodox, doxycycline, is a broad-spectrum antibiotic synthetically derived from oxytetracycline.
1. As a tetracycline-type drug, the use of Periodox during tooth development (i.e. second half of pregnancy, infancy, and child age up to the eighth year) may cause permanent discolouration to the teeth.

2. Mechanical oral hygiene procedures (i.e., tooth brushing, flossing) should be avoided on any treated areas for 7 days.
